Waiting weeks for a mental health appointment shouldn't be the norm, especially for veterans navigating PTSD, depression, or the transition back to civilian life. Here's what actually happens when you reach out to us, and why we're usually able to move faster than a single-location practice.
How Quickly Can Veterans Get an Appointment?
Veterans can typically be scheduled for a psychiatrist appointment within the same week they contact us. Because we operate four locations across San Antonio and Boerne rather than just one, we generally have more open slots across providers and locations, which shortens the wait compared to a single-clinic practice.
What Happens Between Your First Call and Your First Visit
After you call or submit a request online, our scheduling team responds within one business day to confirm your appointment time, location, and provider. During that same contact, we also verify your TRICARE or insurance benefits, so there are no surprises when you arrive for your first visit.
Do I Need a Referral First?
It depends on your TRICARE plan. TRICARE Prime generally requires a referral or authorization from your primary care manager before scheduling with a specialty psychiatric provider, while TRICARE Select allows more direct access without one. Our team can help you figure out which applies to you before you call.
Why We Can Move Faster Than a Single-Location Practice
With four locations (Boerne, Stone Oak, Westover, and Medical Center) and multiple providers, an opening at one location or with one provider often means we can get you seen sooner than if you were waiting on a single psychiatrist's calendar. Our team will work with you to find whichever location and provider has the earliest availability.
How to Get Scheduled This Week
Call or request an appointment online, and expect to hear back within one business day to lock in a time. If you're a veteran or military family member, let us know when you reach out so we can also confirm your TRICARE benefits during that same call.
